So, in the past year, I have been slowly piecing the car back together, from the interior that I removed from the old RS prior to selling it. It was being built as a race car, which was cool and all, but not very "friendly". It carries a laundry list of mods, from the swap to the cage and everything in between. I've gone on to pull a few more trophies this summer, I got a "Best Import Underhood" at a smaller charity show a few weeks ago and got me a "Best of Show" at a local shop that produces turbos and turbo systems (Bullseye Power) I hit 2 Subaru meets and a car show that weekend and pulled a "Best Subaru" in Newark NJ. One NASIOC'er in particular really helped me out (aaaron here) as he came and found where I was staying and became my escort for the weekend. I traveled to NJ to get the car, met some great NASIOC'ers and had an AMAZING time. I jumped on that guy like he was holding my mom for ransome. So, last September, a fellow NASIOCer made mention of selling his stage 3 WRX swapped RS and I couldn't help myself. My RS was like my work truck but a LOT cooler.Īlas, I didn't have the mechanical or body work knowledge to be able to save her, and regrettably last February, she was sold (still running to today BTW) Haul hay for my dad in the middle of winter, no problem. Pull a jet-ski to the lake, sure why not. Stuck cars, kept a tow strap handy just for that. That car got me ANYWHERE I wanted to go and never once complained about doing so. from the many many snowboard trips to providing rescue service in the Blizzard of 00' that hit Buffalo NY. It had been my best friend for 8-9yrs and we had done EVERYTHING together. Rusting out, head gasket had been on it's way out for a long time (thought it never failed) and was just tired. The car was great, fit me like a glove.įast forward 9yrs, the RS was failing.

COMPLETELY different animal than the Fozzy, it was composed, sleek, easy to drive, and (at the time) powerful. I never thought I would end up in the car until I drove it. It felt like I was on a mechanical bull, going down the road, it bucked and banged over every frost heave. I finally test drove one and was like on the suspension. I started looking all over at the dealerships, but, I had my mind set on a Forester. It all started back in late 98' I was finishing collage, getting ready to buy a car.
